The accordion brand Walter Special was launched in the mid 1950´s by Westin & Co. in Stockholm. This from the aim of offering an affordable accordion to hire or buy, in combination to the correspondence courses for various musical instruments that the company at that time started marketing. The accordion course was produced by Andrew Walter, which gave name both to the offered instrument and the course itself. Walter Special was from the beginning and for a number of years on manufactured by Hagström (who did not sell them directly to customers themselfes). Thereafter by various foreign producers, thereof one Hohner.
