A Flower Model

Giulietti brand was born in New York City in 1923 when an accordion factory was established. The founder was Italian Luigi (Louis) Giulietti. Before immigration from Italy to the United States in 1914, Luigi had learned the accordion industry from Soprani. In 1919 Luigi traveled to New York and worked briefly on Galizi. Giulietti founded his own accordion company In 1923. Luigi’s son Julio joined the business and continued his father’s work after Luigi’s death in 1950. Julio was interested in the development of the accordion and in 1960 he introduced Giulieti’s own free bass accordion.

However, the story of the accordion in the picture begins in Finland in the 1920s, when a Finn emigrated to the United States. Apparently, he got the instrument as soon as possible when he got the money together. The key system remained so-called Finnish (Stradella keyboard) because he played with it when he lived in Finland. The accordion went back to Finland in the 1960s.
