This instrument was completed in 1939 for Viljo “Vili” Vesterinen and it was the first black accordion made at the Vyborg accordion factory. The instrument was designed and manufactured by Aarre “Aki” Lievonen, however, the instrument was probably made as a team work. After this instrument, at least a few so called cross-angle (poikkikulma) models were made in black in Vyborg.
With this instrument, Vesterinen most likely recorded the famous version of the Säkkijärvi polka released in 1939. At least in the recordings and film clips of the early 1940s, this accordion was in heavy use. Unfortunately, this instrument was stolen from Vesterinen during the II world war.
Vesterinen used the so-called. russian button layout. In this instrument, the layout has been changed to the so-called Finnish layout.
