Suomen Soitin has been in operation from 1937 to 1947. The Olympic model is made for the 1940 Olympic Games in Finland.
Attempts had been made to get the Olympic Games to Finland in previous years, but the votes had been inadvertent. Finland lost 36–27 votes to Japan. However, Japan abandoned the olympic event in 1938 because of the war between Japan and China the previous year. Four days after the announcement of the cancellation of the Japanese host, Finland was granted preparations for the 1940 Olympic Games. Despite this, the Summer Olympics were held in Finland only in 1952, because the Second World War began in 1939. The 1948 Olympics were held in London.
Suomen Soitin was lead by Yrjö Siltanen.
